Cardiopulmonary ServicesThe Cardiopulmonary Services Department at University Hospital and Medical Center offers a full range of therapeutic and diagnostic inpatient and outpatient care. For patients that are admitted into the hospital, the Cardiopulmonary Department may provide oxygen therapy, bronchodilator therapy, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation. Patients are provided education in such areas as the use of oxygen and breathing exercise before being discharge to home. Among the diagnostic cardiopulmonary services are electrocardiogram (ECG), stress testing, echocardiogram, electroencephalogram, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy and sleep studies (polysomnography). For the comfort and convenience of the outpatients, a member of the Cardiopulmonary Department personally escorts patients from Registration to their test location. InsuranceMedically necessary procedures done on an outpatient basis are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurances and HMOs, although referrals may be required.
